videographed The spokesperson said if the victim requires legal help and she or her family has not contacted any lawyer the police officer on duty will arrange an advocate or paralegal volunteer from district legal services authority The DGP has directed that circle officers be immediately informed about cases of crime against women These officers will personally oversee the entire investigation process and initiate necessary action He said the woman police officer will take the victim for medical examination soon after completing the preliminary investigation In cases of rape the victim’s statement will be immediately recorded before the magistrate and in case she is produced before the magistrate after 24 hours the investigating officer will have to mention the reasons for delay in the case diary and produce its copy before the magistrate the spokesperson said According to the directions the victim will not be called to the police station or any other place to record her statement under the CrPC section The procedure will be carried out either at her residence or any other place of her choice in the presence of her parents guardian relative or a social worker He said
