4 in custody as Police investigate suspected murder

first_imgOver 3 years later Four persons have been arrested as Police continue to probe the disappearance of a 75-year-old man of Rose Hall Town, Corentyne Berbice which occurred over three years ago.New evidence which has surfaced suggests that the man might have been murdered by a close relative for his valuables.The missing man, Percy Johnson, also called ‘Crook’, operated a ‘chick-chick’ board at the time of his disappearance. He had last been seen on April 13, 2015 at his home at Lot 36 ‘B’ Sir David Rose Street, Rose Hall Town, Corentyne Berbice.Johnson lived on the upper flat, while one of his grandsons lived with his wife in the lower flat of the same house. On Wednesday, during an altercation between the grandson and his wife, neighbours overheard the woman shouting to her husband, saying that she would not allow him to kill her and dispose of her body like he did with his grandfather.When family members learnt of the argument and what was said, they contacted the Police, who have since arrested the couple.Meanwhile, another one of the missing man’s grandsons also provided additional information to the Police. He and a friend of the couple, along with a taxi driver, were also taken into custody.Investigators in 2015 has told this publication that when they visited the Rose Hall Town house, they discovered evidence of forced entry.Back in 2015, the body of an unidentified man was discovered at the Hampshire Cemetery. At the time the man’s body was clad in brown Timberland boots. A short distance away, a black mountain bicycle was discovered.The man was never identified, and the body was buried months later.One of the grandsons had said back then that his grandfather had brown Timberland boots and used a black mountain bike.The investigation continues.
